I've gotten so much better recently and I actually don't mind it all anymore - I WILL MAKE THIS A HABIT.
Today I'm going to share with my current skincare routine using Lush products. Anywhere you go skincare products seem to be a bit of a damn investment, but I think Lush sits snugly in the middle of being too cheap that you know it won't do anything and super expensive that you feel like surely you must be putting liquid gold on your face or something because damn girl.
The only thing I don't use Lush products for is to initially remove my makeup, just because I love to use the Garnier Micellar Oil Infused Cleansing Water. I much prefer this to the normal one, you know, the OG cleansing water that Garnier do.
I have dry, quite sensitive skin, so this just works so much better at removing my makeup while still leaving my skin smooth, more hydrated and not irritated.
Once my face is all clean of makeup, I go in with Ultrabland by Lush, a super gentle facial cleanser. If you're a dry skin gal like myself and haven't yet tried this then girl where u been ????
I put a little dot of this on both my cheeks, my forehead, nose and chin, and I massage it all over my face. Yanno, it's like giving yourself a mini facial.
This is made from almond oil, rose water, beeswax and honey, so is super moisturising. This is a little thick so can take some getting used to, and if you have oilier skin you may not love this as much as I do, but I'd definitely say give it a go and see for yourself. You may just fall in laaaaav.
This has become a staple in my routine and holy shit even the smaller pot lasts so. long.
While Ultrabland is still sitting happily on my face, I like to use Angels on Bare Skin, which is a face and body cleanser. I haven't yet tried this on my body I'll be honest, but I love using it on my face. This smells pretty strongly of lavender which I'm not the biggest fan of, but it doesn't smell too strong once it's on your face.
My all time fave still remains to be the Let The Good Times Roll cleanser though, which is the same idea of this but it smells of popcorn. No more needs to be said.
I take a lil pinch of this (as it is a more solid consistency), mix with some warm water to make a paste and then rub rub rub this all over my face.
This contains kaolin to absorb grease and dirt, lavender oil and rose absolute to calm your skin, and ground almonds which turns into almond milk as it mixes with water, which is said to help tone and brighten the skin.
I like to leave this to sit on my face for about 5 minutes, tbefore I wash it all off with a wet face cloth. I work it off in circular motions (you'll see this circular motion talk quite a few times boo, but it's good for your face ok?) which also helps to gently exfoliate my skin. Ta da.
After I've cleansed my face I like to tone. You all know the drill with taking your makeup off, cleansing, toning and moisturising, right?
Anyway, my new fave lil baby is the Eau Roma Toner Water. Lush do quite a few toner waters but this one is especially wonderful for drier skin. I spray it onto a cotton pad (well I basically douse the cotton pad in this) and wipe it all over my face. This also helps to remove any last lil bits of the cleanser that you might have missed. Killing 2 birds with 1 stone eh?
Rose water helps to calm and reduce redness, and lavender water softens and balances the skin. This feels so nice and refreshing, let me tell you. You can also use this to spritz your face with after you've applied makeup - like you would MAC Fix+ - and it helps to refresh your face.
After I've toned I like to use a face mask. I'm a little more than obsessed with face masks okay? Don't judge.
The Mask of Magnaminty face and body mask has become a favourite very quickly. I do only use this a few times a week but boy it feels so good.
I have the self preserving version, which contains a little bit more honey so it's more moisturising, and you also don't have to keep it in the fridge. This mask is - as it suggests - super minty, as it contains peppermint oil, which helps stimulate your blood cells, leaving your face looking bright and more refreshed. It also has kaolin to nourish your skin, and antibacterial honey which not only helps moisturise but also is great for keeping your skin clean and fresh.
This literally smells good enough to eat. The mask is great for combatting breakouts, and exfoliates the skin while not being harsh. I would recommend this to anyone with any skin type, as it just has a lil bit of everything.
I scoop some out of the pot, rub it all over my face and then sit and relax for about 10 minutes before removing it with a wet face cloth. I also love to mix and match this with other face masks, as you really don't need to use it every day. This literally makes your skin feel like it's tingling, it's like a lil OOOH which I actually like, it's not burning, it's not irritating, you can just feel it working.
Lastly, I moisturise my face. A little more on the pricey side but a good investment is the Magical Moringa facial moisturiser.
It has rose hip oil, organ oil and shea butter in it, which all help to nourish, repair and moisturise your skin. It also contains cornflour as it's main ingredient, which is actually what keeps it so solid. If you've felt the texture of this moisturiser you know exactly what I'm on about, and if you haven't, definitely go and give it a feel next time you're in Lush.
The way I use this is by taking a bit (you really don't need much), rubbing it between my fingers to warm it up and make it almost into an oil, and then massage it in circular motions (there it is again) all over my face. It mattifies your skin without it feeling dry at all and actually works really well as a makeup primer! It completely smooths out your face like no other - I'm not joking, even my boyfriend is obsessed with stroking my face when I've got this on.
I've been seriously loving how all of these products work together to smooth my skin, help redness, dryness and any breakouts. What's your skincare routine?
