Kylie Cosmetics Vacation Collection

I've never ordered anything from Kylie Cosmetics before, mainly because customs is a bit of a pain in the ass, but after seeing swatches of the collection I was super excited by some of the products.

Fast forward to 11pm on the release date and I'm sat like a crazy person refreshing the page ready to snap up whatever I can get my hands on... or whatever I can add to my basket quicker than I can blink twice.

I did manage to get the Matte Liquid Lipstick set and one of the Loose Powder Highlighters - I also was obsessed with the look of the Wet Set highlighter palette because sweet jesus those swatches were everything, but it sold out in about 0.8372 seconds. Well, not literally, but it sold out by the time I was ready to check out, and I think I checked out within about 3 minutes. Sigh.

First of all, shipping and customs for these were a nightmare, don't get me wrong they came within a week but it's still quite heart wrenching when you're paying nearly as much for shipping as you did for the products.

I've heard mixed reviews on this collection but I wanted to share my views on what I bought. All of these things were purchased with my own money by the way, and all opinions are my own as always - lil disclaimer there.

I do have to say though that I am o b s e s s e d with this packaging, Kylie, you've done it again gal.

These lipsticks are different from the regular packaging, as they've got a frosted glass effect and the drips are nude. I think I'm actually going to display these lipsticks somewhere so I can stare at them. No joke. Aesthetics - tick.

The Send Me More Nudes set came with 4 shades, each variants of nudes that are super pretty and wearable for every day.

The shades from top to bottom are: Bare, Commando, Birthday Suit and Naked (cheeky), which are from right to left in the box (soz)

Naked is the lightest shade of all of them and is described as a sandy beige, and it went in quite light but dried darker on my lips. I actually wore this for nearly 8 hours and it lasted really well through drinking and working (I talk a lot okay?) without touching up, but it did start to crust a little bit on the inner rim of my lips though. I did have to wait for this to dry down completely before I could press my lips together as it would kind of transfer onto my top lip and rub off the bottom lip.

Birthday Suit is a nude warm beige applied really well and was super pigmented but it did leave an inner rim on my lips pretty much as soon as it had dried down, and it settled into the lines in my lips a little.

Commando is a terracotta beige and ohhhhh lordy this is my fave shade of the bunch. This applied so easily in one swipe and didn't transfer onto my top lip like Naked did. This lasted so long and didn't emphasise the fine lines in my lips. I've only worn this once so far but I got compliments on it, so who's a winner? Me.

Bare was the final shade in the set and is described as a nude pinky beige. This looked so pretty on the lips and I'm not that big into pink lipsticks but I know I'm gonna get a lot of use out of this. This wore really well throughout the day and didn't fade, but again it did emphasise the lines in my lips a little.

All of these would work better on exfoliated and moisturised lips, as any lipstick would, since they can be pretty drying so I just know for next time to get my lips in tip top condition before applying them. A girl's gotta learn, right?
A tip for these is definitely to apply them in one layer, as if you layer them they do start to feel a tad tacky and heavy on the lips, but one layer is perfect as they feel like you've got nothing on, dry down completely matte and last all day.
All the shades were super pigmented as you can see in the swatch picture and that is literally with one swipe. I'm shook too boo.
These were all smudge proof, once they'd dried down to completely matte they literally did not budge; I had to use an oil based makeup remover to get them off. Long lasting, tick.
They actually smell really good, they're quite sweet and vanilla-y (is that a word? I've made it a word now), but they're not overpowering like the Jordana one was

The shade range is so pretty, there really is a nude for everyone. Hence the name. Punny Kylie.
They also came out with these exact shades in the new Velvet range, meaning they're a little creamier and not drying on the lips, but this also means they're not smudge proof and won't be quite as long lasting.

And onto the highlighter. If you don't already know, I love me a highlighter.

They came out with 3 shades of the Ultra Glow Loose Powder Highlighter, I got mine in the shade Tahiti, which is the pinkier one. It's described as a shimmering light rose gold, but I wasn't put off by the fact that it was pretty pink toned, the colour actually reminded me of the Too Faced Prismatic Love Lights Highlighter in the shade Ray of Light, which I've been pretty damn obsessed with recently.
So, pale skin gals, don't be scared away!!!

Swatched, the highlighter was a really nice peachy gold shade, and oh lord I loved how it swatched. (Swatches are another level of satisfying alright?) It was glowy but not chunky with glitter, and just felt super smooth.

I've worn this a couple of times now and it's so easy to wear. Sweep onto your cheekbones, tip of the nose, cupids bow and brow bone with your fave fan brush or small highlighter brush and you're good to go.

Or, yanno, you could just smother this all over your face. Don't pretend you haven't considered it.

ANYway, back to the point, this is easy to wear more as a more subtle highlight with just a bit applied, or you can up the glow and apply more to build up how much you wanna blind you enemies. It's up to you gal.

You can buy things from the collection here if you're interested in either of the things I mentioned (if everything not sold out, damn those things are selling out fast, but last time I checked the matte liquid lipsticks were still in stock), because come on, you can never have enough makeup. Don't listen to your mums or your boyfriends or even your brains, I got your back x

  6. Whilst the business is private, and thus its numbers are not publicly available, even if these estimates were 50% off, the figures would be staggering. Kyliecosmetics
